Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Housing Officer on a 3- Months contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 28.61- 38.16 per hour

Summary:

The Housing Officer for the London Borough of Islington will be a key point of contact for residents responsible for delivering comprehensive and high-quality housing management services across a designated patch. This role involves managing tenancies addressing a wide range of housing-related issues including rent arrears anti-social behaviour and estate management while promoting resident engagement and ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements and Council policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of tenancies ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements and Council policies and providing advice and support to residents on their rights and responsibilities.
  • Proactively manage rent accounts identify and address rent arrears at an early stage negotiate repayment plans and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary including preparing cases for court.
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns relating to vulnerable residents making appropriate referrals to social care or other support services.
  • Ensure adherence to all Council housing policies procedures and relevant housing legislation.
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date and confidential records on housing management systems preparing reports and correspondence as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification in Housing Social Policy Public Administration or a related field; OR substantial relevant experience in a housing management role.

Experience:

  • Significant experience working as a Housing Officer or in a similar frontline housing management role preferably within a local authority or social housing provider.
  • Proven experience in managing tenancies including addressing rent arrears and anti-social behaviour.
  • Experience of conducting estate inspections and managing repair issues.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and using housing management IT systems.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
