Position: Locum Speech and Language Therapist Barnet
Location: Edgware HA8
Start Date: September 2025
Duration: Ongoing (initially 1 day per week with potential for expansion later in 2025)
Schedule: 1 day per week (flexible)
Hours: 7.5 hours per week (flexible start and finish)
Hourly Rate: 30-35 (dependent on experience)
On behalf of our client a leading post-18 special college provision in Barnet we are seeking a passionate and skilled Locum Speech and Language Therapist to join their innovative team starting September 2025. Our client is dedicated to delivering holistic effective services through a strong universal offer working in creative and collaborative ways to address current challenges in Speech and Language Therapy. This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 6 or experienced Band 5 therapist to make a significant impact in a specialist educational setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Inform and deliver students Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) provisions.
- Embed holistic universal and targeted total communication support across the college.
- Manage a specialist caseload of students aged 18 with complex communication needs including autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and learning disabilities.
- Implement Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) strategies and support sensory integration needs.
- Deliver training to college staff to enhance communication support practices.
- Collaborate creatively with the team to address challenges and promote student development.
Requirements:
- HCPC registration and relevant speech and language therapy qualifications.
- Clinical experience in:
- Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
- Learning disabilities
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
- Complex needs and sensory integration
- Delivering training to support staff
- Band 6 or experienced Band 5 level competence.
- Strong interpersonal skills adaptability and a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently in a specialist environment.
