JOB TITLE: Mechanical Assembler Lead

DEPARTMENT: Assembly

REPORTING TO: General Manager


PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:

To perform and guide others in light to complex mechanical and electronic assembly tasks. This includes hands-on work in repair assembly and disassembly of various devices as well as light leadership responsibilities such as mentoring team members and supporting workflow prioritization.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Perform mechanical and electronic assembly using tools such as screwdrivers wrenches power drills and rivet guns.
  • Assist in the coordination of daily tasks and prioritization of work across the team to ensure production targets are met.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to less experienced assemblers.
  • Interpret and communicate process instructions blueprints/drawings and schematics to others as needed.
  • Perform quality checks and assist others in troubleshooting and correcting errors.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment according to updated engineering specifications.
  • Inspect and test completed units for functionality and quality assurance.
  • Adjust grind and fit parts for accurate assembly.
  • Position and fasten units to assemblies and subassemblies using standard practices.
  • Route and secure cables and wiring.
  • Solder electrical components and verify connections.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and collaborate with engineering or leadership to resolve technical issues.
  • Work independently on complex projects with minimal supervision and support others in doing the same.
  • Lead by example in safety quality and work ethic.


Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly within a machine or equipment manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to details


SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Prior experience in a lead mentoring or informal leadership role within a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical documentation
  • Commitment to excellence continuous improvement and teamwork


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to walk and stand for long periods including between plant areas
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs
  • Close visual acuity required for inspection measurement and small-part assembly
  • Must pass background check and education verification per Libra policy


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position will work in both front and shop environments.
  • In the shop you will be exposed to airborne particles moving mechanical parts machines and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in this shop area.
