Job Description

Job Summary

Improves K-12 Mathematics instruction of students with disabilities through professional development coaching and instructional support for teachers and school-based coaches.

Essential Functions

and delivers professional development for teachers in mathematics content and instructional strategies for the assigned grades schools and/or content area.

schools to observe the teaching/learning process provide support and/or technical assistance as appropriate to promote student achievement.

support to individual classroom teachers in curriculum implementation mathematics content use of instructional materials and strategies use of accommodations accessibility features and use of data to improve instruction by implementing coaching cycle (pre-conference model co-teach observe debrief).

schools and ESE Instructional Program Support specialists with analysis of school class and student data and develops appropriate instructional strategies.

development and facilitation of professional learning communities.

information and recommendations regarding instructional materials equipment and curriculum.

model mathematics lessons co-teaches observes and provides specific feedback to classroom teachers on instruction and/or management.

support for school-based professional development to build school capacity.

and delivers professional development for teachers incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) assistive technology and accommodations to promote mathematics instruction.

other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in exceptional student education.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education certification in at least one area of exceptional student education. Mathematics certification preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of DCPS exceptional student education policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and behavioral interventions including using a variety of teaching methods and positive behavior reinforcement appealing to different learners
  • Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of professional development methodologies using a variety of in-service programs
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to improve and develop curriculum materials
  • Ability to implement models of instructional and behavioral interventions
  • Ability to evaluate programs for ESE students
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to prepare reports
