REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from high school or its equivalent
Possession of valid California driver license and qualify for insurability by the districts authorized insurance carrier.
Knowledge of proper use methods materials tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance and general utility work; operation and use of a variety of hand tools and power driven equipment commonly used in grounds maintenance work; appropriate safety precautions and procedures.

WORK DAYS: 260 days (12 months) - 260 Day Work Year Calendar Tues.-Sat.
Tuesday - Saturday 8 hours/day 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
SALARY: Range 21-22 - $3670 to $5242 monthly rate
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience or additional skills.

TITLE: GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER I

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision to perform general and varied groundskeeping and maintenance work.
QUALIFICATIONS
a. Required:
1. High school graduation or its equivalent.
2. Possession of a valid California drivers license and qualify for insurability by the districts authorized insurance carrier.
3. Knowledge of proper use methods materials tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance and general utility
work; operation and use of a variety of hand tools and power driven equipment commonly used in grounds
maintenance work; appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
4. Ability to perform general grounds maintenance work; use or learn to use hand and power driven tools common to
groundskeeping and maintenance work; perform simple servicing and adjustment to grounds equipment; perform work
using appropriate safety precautions and procedures; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and
maintain effective relationships; work off the ground using ladders scaffolds and/or mechanical lifts; work out-of-doors
during inclement weather; mix and apply pesticides and weed abatement chemicals.
b. Desirable:
1. One (1) year of experience in general groundskeeping gardening maintenance or general labor work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Operate hand and small riding power mowers edgers and sweepers.
2. Edge around walks plant beds fences and related grounds areas.
3. Trim and prune shrubs hedges and trees.
4. Use hand tools to remove weeds from school grounds landscaped areas and athletic fields.
5. Drive light truck.
6. Load truck with debris and material.
7. Sweep and blow asphalt areas.
8. Prepare cultivate and fertilize bedding and lawn areas.
9. Pick up refuse.
10. Plant trees shrubs flowers and grass.
11. Assist in the preparation lining marking and dragging of athletic fields tracks or related areas.
12. Haul sand dirt sawdust and straw and distribute where needed.
13. Haul materials and distribute where needed.
14. Apply low-toxic insecticides.
15. Service and make minor repairs to equipment.
16. Move and arrange bleachers and equipment used for special events or for reassignment.
17. Assist in installation and repair of fences.
18. Install and repair playground equipment.
19. Perform other duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
2. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate hand and power driven tools and equipment used in
grounds/maintenance work.
3. Ability to bend and twist kneel and stoop.
4. Ability to work off the ground using ladders scaffolds and/or mechanical lifts without losing balance.
5. Ability to work around plants shrubs and ground covers without allergic reactions.
6. Ability to see and read with or without vision aids.
7. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
