The Department of Natural Resources Division of Mining Land & Wateris recruiting for an Engineering Associate (Geodetics) in Anchorage.
This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:
This position supports the Geodetic Surveyor in managing and maintaining the Alaska Continuously Operating Reference System (ACORN) a real-time Reference Network using Global Navigation Satellite
System (CORS/RTRN GNSS). The role involves building and maintaining CORS stations configuring and maintaining the Real Time Network (RTN) infrastructure and coordinating with other state federal and
Canadian RTN administrators. The position performs advanced engineering tasks to address and resolve complex technical issues provides hardware and software training to network users and develops and maintains professional relationships and outreach with onsite contacts RTN IT staff and various stakeholders. This position is also responsible for training and outreach to network users and various stakeholders.

The DNR mission is To provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaskas state-owned land and water aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest.
The Survey Section provides surveying services to manage and maximize the use of more than 100 million acres of state-owned land. Boundary disputes easement vacations subdivisions and development of state land all require the professional services of the DNR Land Survey Section.

- Remote Sensing: Knowledge of the concepts principles theories and methods necessary to obtain use and interpret data from remote sensing sources including aircrafts and satellites.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical systematic sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on ones knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering land surveying or architecture of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
ABET accredited college or technical school courses in engineering architecture land surveying or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for the non-specific required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month). A bachelors degree with a major in engineering architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET may substitute for four years of the non-specific required experience.Additional Required Information

Alternatively an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution must report that the other institutions transcript is given full value or that full value is recognized in relevant subject areas aligned with the post-secondary institutions curricula.
