Job Description

Overview

M&J Engineering P.C. is a quality provider of multi-discipline consulting services with over 300 employees. Since its inception in 2004 M&J has grown into diversified provider of engineering construction management construction inspection technology and environmental services to a broad range of clients including federal state and city/local agencies private owners architects engineers and contractors.

M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection ITS mechanical electrical wastewater water supply tunnel airport port marine/coastal environmental engineering and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

M&J Engineering is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Chief Inspector Railroad to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of construction activities for the Stamford MOE Facility Project. Operated by Metro-North and owned by the State of Connecticut this facility is undergoing major upgrades to improve its operational capabilities and bring it to a state of good repair.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise inspection activities across all phases of the MOE Facility Project.
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations as well as project specifications and safety standards.
  • Monitor construction activities including roof HVAC system and lighting replacement; rehabilitation of bathrooms locker rooms lunch rooms and support areas; shop painting; fall arrest system installation on Track 44; Track 44 extension and overhead door installation; security camera system expansion; IT infrastructure upgrades; bug and stinger system upgrades; emergency power system and boiler installation; car wash and dumpster pad improvements; parking lot and pavement repairs; electrical room and rectifier transformer replacement; retaining wall construction and storm sewer connections; site drainage lighting and toilet manifold system improvements; Hill Yard shelter enhancements.
  • Coordinate with contractors engineers and CTDOT personnel to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and prepare reports on construction progress and quality.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact project timelines or quality.
  • Ensure proper implementation of environmental and right-of-way permits.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in railroad construction inspection and project oversight.
  • In-depth knowledge of railroad maintenance facilities and infrastructure systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods materials and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and contracts.
  • Familiarity with federal and state funding requirements and documentation.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field.
  • NICET Level IV certification in Transportation/Construction or equivalent.
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or PE (Professional Engineer) license.

Salary Range $85-$90/HR
