Introduction:
This is an entry-level position. Recent graduates or early-career professionals that are interested in advancing their experience in teaching research support and student engagement in a university setting are encouraged to apply.
The Douglas D. Schumann Library & Learning Commons seeks a customer service-oriented and collaborative individual to fill the role of Collections & Engagement Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Director for Research & Collections and working closely with colleagues on the Research & Instruction team the Collections & Engagement Librarian provides research assistance information literacy instruction and information services to the Wentworth Institute of Technology community. This full-time position will support information literacy education for undergraduate and graduate students through classroom instruction and research consultations. The Collections & Engagement Librarian also coordinates the library exhibits program which involves regular collaboration with faculty staff and student groups. The Collections & Engagement Librarian also serves as library liaison to one of the five Schools leading collection development in their focus disciplines and engaging in faculty outreach.
The Collections & Engagement Librarian is expected to participate in campus outreach and engagement initiatives. As such this position will require some evening and weekend hours.
This Position is Bargaining Unit Eligible.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide research support and consultation services for the Wentworth community.

2. Provides instruction for undergraduate and graduate students and for campus groups.

3. Reviews and selects library materials as assigned with an emphasis on supporting and maintaining the engineering collection.

4. Coordinates and organizes the administration scheduling installation and marketing components for the library exhibit program.

5. Provides outreach for faculty staff departments and the Wentworth community and serves as library liaison to one of the five Schools.

6. Develops online resource guides webpages and other resources.
a. 10%
Required Qualifications:
Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
One or more years experience working in an academic library.
Demonstrated experience in a customer service role.
Teaching experience at the secondary and/or undergraduate level (this includes library instruction or other disciplines).
Experience or interest in collection development with a focus on engineering and other STEM disciplines.
Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of new or improved services and resources in support of research teaching and information literacy.
Ability and desire to work collaboratively with library staff and campus colleagues and stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service.
Proven verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently practice successful time management and adhere to deadlines.
Capacity for working enthusiastically flexibly and creatively in a student-centered environment.
Commitment to pursuing professional development learning and growth opportunities in the fields of information libraries higher education etc. to meet emerging and ongoing needs of the Wentworth community.
Preferred Qualifications:
One or more years experience working in an academic library in a professional role.
College-level coursework or relevant work experience in engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in faculty outreach and collaboration.
General knowledge of collection development principles and practices.
