POSITION SPECIFICS
Housing Operations a division of Auxiliary & Business Services (A&BS) is excited to welcome candidates for the position of Associate Director. This position supports the vision and mission of the Housing Operations by overseeing the departments custodial programs staff and employee hiring on-boarding training and professional development along with project-related operational support to fulfill a tradition of excellence and service in residential facilities. As an incoming team member of Auxiliary and Business Services it will be expected that all employees embody and model Penn States and Finance and Business Values to deliver an exceptional on-campus experience for our students families and guests.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Lead the departments Custodial Programs team. Oversee the coordination of housekeeping practices ensuring best operational practices are followed for effectiveness efficiency consistency safety and sustainability. Research consult with staff and implement methods for improvement. Keep abreast of current developments in higher education and campus housing. Areas of campus-wide impact include: Cleaning Products Tools & Equipment Floor Care Certification Programs Laundry Programs Quality Assurance Programs Standard Operating Procedures related to Custodial Task Training Development & Coordination.
Create an exceptional Staff and Employee experience. Coordinate all hiring on-boarding training and professional development that increase morale job satisfaction and retention. Oversee and conduct annual performance evaluations. Support management staff and employees on job performance discipline grievances accident reports incident reports and related support and oversight in the formulation of plans and establishment of schedules for employees during peak time periods such as Arrival Fall Break Semester Break Spring Break and Summer.
Develop operational support programs that continuously improve the on-campus experience. Coordinate lounge and community space refurbishment. Manage contract relations that serve operations and students such as vending laundry storage and sustainability. Organize teams and resources for Arrival and Move-Out events.
Review analyze and prepare annual operating budgets. Recommend major and minor equipment furniture and supply purchases. Develop inventory control program. Monitor monthly operating statements to ensure fulfillment of budgetary goals and established projections.
As a designated Essential Employee prepare for and respond to critical incidents to ensure continuity of operations for housing residents and guests. This is a 100% on-site position; telecommuting is not typical.
It is essential that the candidate have excellent written and verbal communication skills the ability to use good judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential information be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines and demonstrate a genuine appreciation working with diverse audiences in a team environment. The successful candidate must have excellent skills utilizing Microsoft Office (O365) programs such as Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Additional Qualifications
APPA credential of Educational Facilities Professional (EFP) or Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) preferred but not required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

A&BS is one of the largest units of Penn State Finance & Business. SALARY & BENEFITS
