As the Process Safety Manager the primary objective is to ensure minimization of process safety related risk at performance coatings facilities within the US and Canada region. You will lead Process Safety activities in the region ensuring that locations are legally compliant satisfy PPG Process Safety procedures standards and processes. You will provide leadership and technical expertise to achieve corporate goals for process safety performance and ensure compliance with policies and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Support site EHS Process Safety and Operations teams to ensure compliance with Federal State Local and PPG requirements and policies.
Establish an effective management system for Process Safety tasks and for assuring that all the required Process Safety documents are maintained per regulatory or PPG requirements.
Coordinate activities related to completion and maintenance of Process Hazards Analysis for USCA manufacturing locations. Facilitate or participate on process safety reviews including FMEA Process Hazards Analysis (PHA e.g. HAZOP) Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Facility Siting Analysis across the region.
Identify and assist implementing risk reduction initiatives to prevent major accidents explosions fires and spills in USCA manufacturing locations.
Identify process safety training needs and organize PSM training with support (if needed) of PPG Experts/PSM Engineers/Coordinators or external partners. Coordinate activities related to Process Safety integration for new acquired sites.
Review critical PSM audit inspection and accident reports and recommend and/or work with sites to implement corrective actions to eliminate recurrence.
Ensure coordination and alignment of Process Safety initiatives at the USCA level through regular meetings and communication to all levels of Operations.
Monitor the application of the PSM key performance indicators ensure compliance and interpret and report results and work with sites to ensure actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate program gaps.
Support implementation and maintenance of MOC and PHA programs.
Lead mentor and develop the regions PSM Engineers/Coordinators on Process Safety and Risk Management; No direct reports.
Identify emerging issues (such as regulation changes) within the region and communicate potential issues to affected parties.
Network with other region process safety managers to foster adoption of best practices.
Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering PSM or related Science discipline. MS degree in PSM Engineering or related field preferred.
10 or more years of experience in a PSM covered facility preferably within major hazard facility.
5 years experience managing and implementing PSM programs at a complex facility.
Significant Risk Management experience the facilitation of hazard studies and risk assessments (e.g. HAZID HAZOP LOPA) will be preferred.
Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and consensus standards (OSHA EPA DOT NIOSH ANSI NFPA) inspection procedures audits hazard reviews incident prevention incident investigation techniques and safety and environmental education and training.
Strong influencing skills and ability to act as a technical expert.
This role requires flexibility (up to 25%) to travel to different locations within the region.
