The company a modern and growing underground zinc mining operation is hiring a Health and Safety Coordinator to drive workplace safety and compliance. Located just 2 hours from the Thousand Islands Lake Ontario the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Placidwith easy access to Ottawa and Montreal the role offers a unique opportunity to build your career in one of New Yorks most scenic regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure workplace safety and full compliance with MSHA and all applicable regulations
- Develop implement and continuously improve health and safety policies and programs
- Conduct regular workplace risk assessments (both underground and surface)
- Lead and provide ongoing safety training and education to all employees
- Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate and accompany MSHA during inspections and audits
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation of all safety-related activities
- Schedule required physical exams and hearing tests
- Assist with the preparation and submission of weekly and monthly safety reports
- Promote a positive safety culture across all departments
- Perform other health and safety tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Proven experience with MSHA regulations workplace safety procedures and compliance
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills; able to manage deadlines efficiently
- Proficiency with computers and safety reporting tools (Word Excel incident tracking software etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
