Job Description

Reporting to the Director for the Office of Water Quality the Office of Water Quality Technical Advisor is responsible for a portfolio of projects within the Office of Water Quality. The Technical Advisor must have specialized knowledge in data analytics water hygiene and relevant regulation knowledge regarding engineered water systems.

Under direction with considerable latitude for independent or unreviewed action or decision the Office of Water Quality Technical Advisor will perform highly complex technical projects and/or process research. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

-Perform data mining exercises to uncover trends or patterns in relevant water sampling data building water system evaluations or other field data accumulation
-Design execute and interpret research and analysis projects using a variety of quantitative data analysis methods.
-Maintain records and prepare reports and analysis of complex research ad-hoc analyses and prepare relevant reports and presentations assigned in the areas of legionella lead Total Coliform/ and other relevant building water systems.
-Make and record observations on the progress of research/investigations and evaluate data within the Office of Water Quality; specifically areas of progress and performance related to water hygiene.
-Develop targeted data reports dashboards and data visualization models that surface key analytical investigations and data metrics related to water hygiene.
-Assist with the conducting of research studies and reviewing training curriculums and conducting analysis on the effectiveness of the training.
-Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop document and maintain policies procedures systems related to water hygiene.
-Provide technical guidance in relation to Legionella domestic water evaluations cooling tower management lead exceedances in childcare centers Roof tank inspections cleaning and samplings as well as other water hygiene related issues.

Qualifications :

1. For Assignment Level I (only physical biological and environmental sciences and public health) A masters degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above.

Probationary Period
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
