Description of Position
Working under the guidance of a Manager/Supervisor this position is responsible for the individualized planning and support to children as well as general resource support to licensed childcare programs and early childhood educators.
Salary: $56924.61/year
Description of Duties
Selects uses and adapts effective teaching strategies and specialized learning materials to promote developmental individualized plans.
Utilizes/develops new techniques options or approaches to supporting children
Works in collaboration with licensed childcare service providers and early childhood educators to promote inclusion for all children. Promotes community inclusion.
Works collaboratively with community partners and represents the organization through participation on community committees or working groups and facilitates professional learning opportunities as required.
Knowledgeable of standards set by the organization in terms of Personal Outcome Measures and ensures these are maintained or improved.
Knowledgeable of childrens individual verbal and nonverbal communications including alternative communication systems and techniques and encourages self-expression of children who receive support.
Support children and families at times of transition (i.e. into childcare into school system) and provide information and resources to support parent advocacy and future planning.
Ensures the Minimum Standards Guidelines are maintained above the adequate level for each child.
Completes essential job duties in a thorough and detailed manner.
Demonstrates effective use of technology.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Previous experience working or volunteering with children who have an intellectual disability
Excellent analytical interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Proficient with PC computer environment; MS Office (Word Excel Outlook etc.)
Must have a Valid Ontario Drivers License (Class G or G2) and access to a reliable vehicle and Insurance
Valid First Aid/CPR certificate is required.
Fluent in French (or additional second languages) an asset.
A recent medical examination submitted within 30 calendar days of hire.
Membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) Ontario
