JanSport: Senior Supply Planner

What will you do

A day in the life of a Senior Analyst Supply Planning at JanSport looks a little like this.

Position Summary:

As the Senior Supply Planner for JanSport you will be responsible for procuring supply to meet service and inventory objectives. You will work to ensure on time deliveries from vendors and to customers. Key partners will include your Global Supply Planning Partners Vendors Sourcing Logistics Demand Planning Distribution and Customer Service. Additionally you will understand capacity constraints and work to resolve issues proactively.

Lets break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

• Recommend and execute product purchases based upon demand inputs and other crucial supply planning criteria (current inventory levels vendor capacity minimums and buy readiness). Issue purchase requisitions to Global Supply Planning team.

• Track conversion of purchase requisitions to vendor purchase orders.

• Provide monthly forecast to inventory planner for your categories for open to buy.

• Continually monitor demand needs and supply timing to identify issues and opportunities. Adjust supply timing as needed to improve service to customers and / or meet inventory objectives.

• Collaborate with Demand Planning when capacity is constrained to forecast/prioritize demand based on supply availability.

• Manage seasonal initial system set up and line plan validation within Supply Planning team.

• Closely partner with cross functional stakeholders to ensure delivery of current month financial objectives.

• Support the S&OP Supply Review meeting. Highlight issues and opportunities to drive improved supply chain operational performance and achieve business objectives.

• Coordinate the monthly inventory roll by consolidating cross-functional data leading meetings and providing insights to support inventory decisions. Create monthly reports and analysis to inform supply chain on key metrics and analysis associated with on hand inventory utilization inventory composition inventory days and inventory position. Forecast and report excess inventory support inventory budgeting process. Drive automation to streamline reporting processes.

• Provide leadership within the department to other planners as well as those outside the direct group making suggestions for and implementing process improvements as needed.

• Participate in longer term view of supply availability taking into consideration demand needs by product type and any potential capacity or material constraints.

• Participate in key projects to evolve supply chain capabilities.

• Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to understand assess & problem solve by leveraging technical and analytical skills

• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment

• Proven ability to multi-task effectively

• Advanced Excel Skills (pivot tables macros)

• Understanding of reporting tools (Brio/SAP Business Objects/PowerBI)

• Experience in project planning and implementation

• Self-starter with excellent follow through

• Excellent attention to detail

• Location requirement: hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days in office.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

• SAP System experience highly preferred

• APICS or Six-Sigma Certifications are a plus
