    PRIMARY PURPOSE:
    Assist all students and parents in completing and submitting applications for financial aid andscholarships. Announce all scholarship availabilities and recruit students. Engage in an aggressivesearch of scholarship possibilities via the Internet and community organizations and businesses.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Educational Requirements:
    Minimum B.A. in education communication business or other related field
    Masters Degree inCounseling preferred
    Experience in the area of financial aid is preferred
    Special Knowledge Skills:
    Effective public relations/communication skills
    Open-minded to scholarship opportunities for all students regardless of academic achievement andeconomic background
    Flexibility to meet needs of parents/students as they relate to extendedworking hours
    Well-versed and competent in computer accessing skills

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    Research and Development:

    Aggressively solicit and secure scholarship information.
    Advise students about alternative sources of funding available (scholarships work studygrants loans and investments.)
    Conduct research into alternate sources of funding available for students who do not qualify forfinancial aid and/or scholarships.
    Communication of Information:
    Collaboratively work with counselors to inform students and parents of post-secondaryexaminations.
    Collaboratively work with counselors to assist students and parents with the admissionsprocess.
    Organize and conduct financial aid workshops for students and parents to impress the importanceof timeliness as it relates to meeting available funding.
    Assist parents/students in completing and submitting financial aid forms to appropriateorganizations.
    Disseminate financial aid information through the use of local newspapers newsletters andother media sources.
    Coordinate the planning of the campus college and financial aid nights.
    Trainer of Competencies and Skills:
    Conduct training seminars and workshops in financial aid to keep staff and community currentwith the latest information and processes.
    Provide orientation for students relating to financial aid.
    Organize and conduct small group presentations with parents students and community in order tode-mystify and simplify the financial aid process.
    Train campus staff in writing effective letters of recommendation for students.
    Network with School and Community Organizations:
    Serve as liaison between the student and the universities community colleges technical andvocational schools and the military.
    Work with Chamber of Commerce businesses and other organizations to secure local scholarshipsfor students.
    Maintain current Data Base:
    Log and track students who have applied for financial aid.
    Compile and publish a list of all local state and national scholarships for use by studentsand parents.
    Log and track students who have been awarded scholarships for the senior awards ceremony andfuture evaluations.
    Follow-up information on the effectiveness of the financial aid program.
    Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.
