Your Role as PT Assistant Coach for Softball:

Canisius University invites interested and qualified persons to apply for the position of Assistant Coach for Softball. Canisius is a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Assistant Coach will ensure the softball program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional conference and NCAA rules and regulations. The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach for Softball. This is a part-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruit qualified student athletes for Canisius University Softball Program

Train and evaluate well-prepared student-athletes.

Organize and execute individual skill instruction for players.

Schedule and coordinate conditioning drills and workouts in conjunction with assigned athletic performance coach.

Assist with academic advisement monitoring and development of student-athletes.

Develop scouting reports for opponents as assigned and evaluate game tape.

Assist with team travel and recruiting trip arrangements.

Assist with coordinating official and unofficial visits written correspondence and telephone communications.

Market and direct the Canisius University softball camps.

Ensure the softball program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed:

Qualifications:

Education

• A bachelors degree is required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes parents coaches and administrators.
• Must have and maintain a valid Drivers license with a positive driving record per the Universitys insurance provider (with/or upon moving to NYS obtain a NYS drivers license within NYS DMV residency guidelines after hire).
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Experience

• Background in playing and/or coaching pitchers is preferred.
• Coaching playing and/or recruiting experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
• Previous experience supervising communicating with and instructing student-athletes is required.
