Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement (Director) the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement (Assistant Director) is responsible for planning and executing a portfolio of alumni/volunteer engagement initiatives designed to build and strengthen relationships and foster a culture of philanthropy within the Chapman community. The Assistant Director will work closely with campus partners to ensure a successful student-to-alumni transition and will play a key role in developing and executing digital engagement and signature programs on behalf of the Office of Engagement and Volunteerism.

Responsibilities
Alumni Engagement and Programs Cultivate meaningful relationships with alumni volunteers and students through personalized outreach and individual visits that deepen engagement and strengthen their connection to the university. Collaborate with the Engagement & Volunteerism team to identify meaningful ways for alumni and volunteers to engage with the Chapman community. Identify and lead efforts to increase engagement with students young alumni and recent graduates. Coordinate and collaborate with campus partners including career and professional development student engagement schools and colleges annual giving and admissions to identify and create meaningful relationships and programming that encourages the successful transition of engaged students to engaged alumni. Partner with the Associate Director to plan and execute a comprehensive digital engagement strategy for recent graduates. Coordinate the Office of Engagement and Volunteerisms role in signature campus events and programs including but not limited to Chapman Family Homecoming and Commencement. Collaborate with campus partners to promote these events to the alumni community. Collaborate with the Office of Career and Professional Development on digital engagement programming and initiatives as requested. Track constituent outreach and engagement and establish clear metrics and goals under the supervision of the Director; meet goals by increasing engagement over time. Contribute to fundraising efforts and increasing alumni participation in giving. Assist the Engagement and Volunteerism team with alumni and family engagement programs and outreach as requested. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree required. Minimum of 3 years experience in alumni or student engagement at an institution of higher education or related experience. Demonstrated success building strong relationships with a wide range of constituents from diverse backgrounds including alumni students and faculty. Experience developing strategic partnerships with departments across campus. Experience planning events and programming of all levels. Strong attention to detail communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to critically think and implement strategic initiatives. Strong organizational and management skills. Ability to work independently take initiative and exercise discretion and judgment. Strong ability to collect evaluate and assess data and metrics to further the goals of the department. Technical skills to learn and use Chapmans CRM database and other systems. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite applications. Ability to represent the University in a positive light communicate persuasively and passionately to and collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituencies. Ability to use good judgment tact and diplomacy and to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of FERPA and other relevant laws regulations and policies. Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork. Ability to travel locally to meet with Constituents in Southern California and to travel regionally or nationally on occasion as required.
