The art teacher will instruct all grade levels PreK-3 in classes of approximately 2025 students. The ideal candidate shows self-determination innovation creativity drive and excitement in teaching art to elementary aged students. Candidates must be willing to perform the duties listed below in addition to responsibilities directed by the Principal. Responsibilities: Teach PK-3 art classes adhering to district & state curriculum Focus on culturally responsive practices in teaching art Prepare artwork for and hang art at district-wide art exhibits Assess and evaluate students performance on a regular basis Report on student progress each term using the districts standards-based report card Plan and prepare a program of study that covers the Mass Curriculum Frameworks for Visual Arts standards: Creating Presenting Responding Connecting Establish and communicate clear learning objectives Provide instruction that encourages students to understand and appreciate art Encourage students to express their own personalities and thoughts through the creative process Provide curriculum updates and regular communication to families Set and maintain acceptable standards of classroom behavior to establish an orderly learning environment Instruct students on how to properly use and care for materials tools and equipment Communicate regularly with families Must hold an Elementary Visual Art License (PK-8)
