About the opportunity:
To represent Launch Housing as an initial point of contact in a professional confident and competent manner and in accordance with Launch Housings policies and standards.

Follow all Launch Housing policies and practices in service delivery to clients. Follow all Launch Housing internal procedures pertaining to client case files & notes client confidentiality clients regarding their rights and responsibilities and grievance procedures. Specifically to maintain the effective running of the crisis accommodation site in the after-hours team.

Launch Housing Southbank is a 51-bed crisis accommodation service in Melbourne. It offers short stays case management healthcare and crisis supports to people in need of shelter and care. Southbanks accommodation options include rooms for couples and singles.

While staying at the facility residents can use the communal kitchens courtyard lounge room dining and activities room. Southbank is a pet-friendly crisis accommodation service and it has women only areas. Support staff are on site 24/7 to provide assistance and care for residents.

We are seeking a permanent after-hours support worker to fill a 0.4FTE at Southbank for the following over-night shifts:

Week 1 Monday 11pm-7.30am Wednesday 11pm-7.30am
Week 2 Thursday 11pm-7.30am Sunday 11pm-7.30am

What youll be doing:

    • Provide a comprehensive service to residents including crisis counselling support and advocacy in accordance with case plans
    • Monitor and manage the dynamics of the facility with the aim of providing an environment which is safe peaceful and enjoyable for all
    • Follow all handover procedures
    • Respond to critical incidents and breaches in facility rules
    • Participate as a member of the site team in the overall development evaluation and improvement of the service to enable the provision of effective and efficient service delivery to clients including attending relevant training and staff meetings and annual performance reviews
    • Liaise with Housing Initial Assessment Planning team to coordinate client arrivals
    • Conduct a thorough assessment of client support needs
    • Carry out comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning

What were looking for (key selection criteria):

    • An understanding of homelessness and the issues affecting people experiencing homelessness
    • Knowledge of current forms of housing assistance including the homelessness services system
    • Demonstrated knowledge and a commitment to working with clients with mental health drug and alcohol issues and challenging behaviours; including associated service networks
    • Ability to identify and manage personal stress levels
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously.
    • Commitment and ability to work in a team environment
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Administrative skills including financial record keeping and relevant computer competency
    • Ability and commitment to working with site specific client group/s
    • Provide evidence of a current Victorian drivers licence
$45.92 - $49.41 an hour
