Job Description
Position: Crossing Guard (2 part-time openings & 2 substitute openings)
Open Date: July 16 2025
Close Date: Open until filled
Department: Police
Status: Non-Exempt part-time or substitute
Wage: $14.00/hour
Position Summary
This position reports to the Crossing Guard Supervisor. Assists pedestrians and school children in safely crossing city streets.
Schedule: Monday-Friday (Compensated for 1.5 hours per shift 3 hours total per day)
Morning Hours: 8:15 AM - 9:00 AM*
Monday-Thursday Afternoon Hours: 3:15 PM - 4:00 PM* and Friday Afternoon Hours: 1:15 PM - 2:00 PM*
*School District schedule changes may affect these hours.
This position does not offer benefits.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A. No education or experience is required. Must be age 18 or older.
B. Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations in assisting children in crossing streets is preferred.
C. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and communicate effectively verbally.
Tools and Equipment
Handheld stop sign safety vest and traffic cones (provided).
Typical Duties
1. Controls traffic at school crossing intersections.
2. Assists school children safely crossing City streets on their way to and from school.
3. Follows safety rules and regulations while performing duties.
Physical Requirements
Lifting: light - up to 20 lbs. typical
Repetitive: standing walking listening talking grasping smiling.
Work Requirement
Outdoors - all weather conditions (Coat provided)
