PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Manage all marketing and communication efforts within the Child Nutrition Department to meet operational and financial goals. Assist in establishing and maintaining systems and procedures to better integrate marketing initiatives and to improve the overall food services program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma
Associates degree in merchandising marketing or a related field- preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication public relations and interpersonal skills
Ability to use a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets perform data analysis word processing and prepare presentations
Ability to interpret policy procedures and data
Ability to work with a team and independently
Accurate typing and ten-key skills familiarity with computer such as spreadsheets and word processing
Ability to set and meet deadlines
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including prolonged keyboarding & use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds)
Environment: May work with frequent interruptions; maintain professional demeanor under stress; possess problem solving and multi-tasking skills; frequent district-wide travel
Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience: One year experience working in a merchandising capacity- preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Plan prepare edit and publish internal and external newsletters brochures pamphlets menus and other materials for informing staff students and patrons about the Child Nutrition Department and its programs.
- Keep monthly and yearly total information on impact of marketing and promotions.
- Update weekly/monthly menus for Child Nutrition Department.
- Act as photographer for the Child Nutrition Department.
- Plan promotions by ordering and dispersing materials and giving instructions to food service managers. Track results of promotions.
- Conduct surveys to gather continual feedback from our customer base.
- Report concerns and make recommendations to the Director of Child Nutrition.
- Write and distribute memos letters reports and other forms of correspondence as requested.
- Operate a computer system (Dell) running MS DOS MS Windows MS Word PeopleSoft and Excel.
- Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.
- Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices.
- Utilize technology to effectively communicate promotions and events.
- Play an integral role in developing the retail operations by researching retail trends and identifying areas of opportunity to improve our products services and standard operating procedures to meet customers changing needs.
- Maintain and accurate and up to date file of meal promotion data for TDA.
- Compile information and submit requests for any applicable rebates.
- Order all signs receive and place signs in schools in a timely manner.
- Merchandise items sample products and set prices in accordance with fundamental merchandising methodology with a focus on increasing participation.
- Travel to AISD campuses to ensure that standards are being me.
- Track and measure both cumulative and individual campus performance.
- Resolve problems in a timely fashion and retain documentation.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
