Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxation seeks an efficient effective and professional leader to serve as Operations Manager in the agencys Tax Processing Office.
The Operations Manager leads a 57-member department focused on exception handling in a fast-paced production environment. The Error Resolution unit analyzes and corrects inaccuracies on submitted tax returns and payments before they can be posted to a taxpayers account. The Operations Manager will be responsible for planning budgeting coaching organizing and managing the inventory levels of all worklists ensuring the teams are operating efficiently and meeting goals for quality and timeliness.
Over the next several years Virginia Tax will be replacing its core tax processing system and the Operations Manager will have a meaningful opportunity to redesign and improve processes as part of this program.
The position is located at our Westmoreland Office in Richmond Virginia. This position is an office position and requires 5 days in the office. It is not eligible for telework.
The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $105000.

Minimum Qualifications
Proven ability to manage operations and direct staff in a high volume fast-paced production environment
Considerable experience with analyzing business processes or workflows to identify and implement improvements
Proven ability to manage budgets expenditures inventory and purchasing timelines
Proven ability to lead and support a work environment that promotes teamwork collaboration employee development and shared goals
Experience with managing and evaluating staff performance
Proven ability to lead projects and support large-scale cross-functional initiatives at the agency level
Considerable experience developing complex spreadsheets to monitor and track a variety of metrics forecast production volume resource needs and estimate costs
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Additional Considerations
Experience working in local state or federal government
Considerable knowledge of taxation and / or payment processing
Ability to work independently demonstrate good judgment identify risk make recommendations and serve as a resource to staff in resolving complex issues
Considerable knowledge of Word Excel and Outlook
