Job Description
Concordia University Chicago invites applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach. The position will be responsible for recruitment of qualified student athletes for the football program and will lead the offensive planning with the assistance of the Head Coach. This 12-month position includes ensuring compliance with CUC NACC and NCAA Division III rules. The Assistant Football Coach must be able to recruit academically qualified and athletically competitive student-athletes and to motivate them to realize their potential in the classroom and on the field. This position reports to the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics and is located in River Forest IL.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Recruitment
- Works under the direction of the Head Football Coach to develop a recruitment plan for the offensive team
- Helps recruit qualified student athletes under the direction of the recruitment coordinator
- Communicates with the Admission office about potential student athletes
Coaching
- Coaches offense concepts and assists the Head Football Coach with practice
- Develops skills of individual players
- Helps in the retention of all student athletes in the football program
- Connects with football alumni
Game Event Manager
- Helps supervise home athletic events in winter and spring
- Promotes a positive student athlete experience at home events
Skill Sets:
- Clear understanding and knowledge of the sport of football
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of the best practices for football players
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff administration and students
- Superior verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
- Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago a university of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).
Minimum Experience Required:
3 years of coaching preferably at the collegiate level
Education Requirements:
A minimum of an Undergraduate Degree required Masters Degree preferred.
