California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Ethnic Studies seeks applicants for its part-time lecturer pool. We are seeking experienced well-organized and student-centered individuals to teach introductory courses in Ethnic Studies. Candidates must have at least a Masters degree in a field relevant to the curriculum of the Department of Ethnic Studies. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students first-generation college students. Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative supportive and inclusive environment.
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary and all appointments are temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term right up to the beginning of the academic term. We recommend submitting your application well before the beginning of an academic term to be considered for available positions.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Introductory courses in Ethnic Studies are offered in-person hybrid and online modalities.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold Masters degree or Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies or related field at time of employment and demonstrate evidence of teaching promise.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of scholarly activity publication and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Following a conditional offer of employment a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
