QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF A STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR
POSITION: Student Services Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A valid Oklahoma certificate as a guidance counselor or teacher.
- A masters degree in an education related field preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal and Special Services Director
JOB GOAL: Help create a positive school culture and individual learning experience by working with students and their families.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist teachers and principals in making classroom placement decisions and schedules.
- Maintains student records and protects confidentiality.
- Works with and maintains records of students while attempting to resolve students educational concerns.
- Work with the school nurse on health plans and work with the building level teams on student 504s.
- Works closely with the building level IEP team to ensure that Special Education paperwork is properly started and tracked between the schools and the Special Services Center.
- Helps identify ELL students. Conducts WIDA testing WAPT testing collecting accurate Home Language Survey information and other duties set forth by district ELL plan.
- Implement plans to discover and develop the special abilities of students.
- Works in conjunction with the middle school counselors to coordinate transition meetings/activities for fifth grade students
- Provides guidance for students and families in reference to participation in school and community activities.
- Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such problems as home and family relations health and emotional adjustment.
- Confers with parents whenever necessary.
- Consults administrators and faculty on student discipline and behaviors and provides ongoing support.
- Assists in orientation of new faculty members assist in the office and monitor students as needed.
- Serves as building testing coordinator.
- Depending upon the needs of the building may provide classroom instruction to all or part of the grade levels as part of the specials rotation.
- Other duties as assigned by principal Special Services Director or Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Instruction.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
179-day contract (could include an additional 5 days if needed and agreed upon by the principal). Salary and work year to be according to the current schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
