POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Help Desk Technician plays a crucial role in supporting and maintaining technology equipment software and systems to enhance teaching learning and the schools daily operations. This position requires strong problem-solving skills customer service and technical expertise.

Reports to: Director of Operational IT

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

Act as the first point of contact for faculty staff and students requiring technical assistance.

Diagnose and resolve hardware software and network issues using troubleshooting techniques and targeted questioning.

Guide users through the problem-solving process to address issues effectively.

Escalate unresolved issues to higher-tier support personnel when necessary.

Document technical issues solutions and user interactions within the help desk system.

Follow up with users to ensure issues are fully resolved and document feedback for process improvement. Technology & System Management

Assist in the setup maintenance and checkout of equipment for faculty staff and students.

Support Mac OS X Windows iOS Microsoft Office Google OS and various software applications.

Contribute to hardware and software inventory management ensuring accurate records.

Assist in documenting processes and procedures for internal IT operations. Collaboration & Process Improvement

Work with leadership to advance strategic technology initiatives.

Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance IT support efficiency.

Provide training and guidance to end-users on new technologies and best practices.

Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Additional Responsibilities

Support Zoom and Google Meet meetings and phone systems as needed.

Assist in entry-level networking and server management.

Stay up to date with new and emerging technologies to improve IT support services.

This position will be expected to cross-train with other functions in the department

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

3 years of technology support experience in a K-12 educational environment with increasing responsibility.

Degree in MIS Computer Science related technical field or equivalent professional experience. (Preferred)

Proficiency in Mac OS X Windows iOS Microsoft Office Suite Google Workspace and various software applications.

Experience supporting Google Workspace for Education or other cloud-based environments.

Basic knowledge of networking. Soft Skills & Professional Attributes

Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects independently.

Strong time management skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

Flexibility to adapt to new and rapidly changing technologies.
