Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) the Infection Control Coordinator will act as a representative of the IPAC Program supporting the implementation and evaluation of the IPAC program in congregate settings (Long Term Care Facilities Retirement Homes and other congregate settings ie. shelters group homes) and the development and delivery of educational materials throughout Halton Region as an extension of the Halton Region IPAC Hub.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to completing IPAC audits acting as an expert consultant internally and externally developing and delivering education in various formats for all levels of health care providers and linking with external agencies across the continuum of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work at the assigned hospital and any of the congregate settings in Halton Region based on departmental and operational needs.


Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in a health-related administrative or scientific discipline
  • Completion certificate of an IPAC Canada Endorsed IPAC course required
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) from an IPAC Canada-accredited or equivalent recognized program an asset
    Advanced data management and analytical skills including use of specialized databases (e.g. MediTech Expanse hand hygiene platforms Orange QC environmental auditing report MS Excel Visio PowerPoint Canva).
  • Infection control knowledge including familiarity with Public Health Ontario (PHO) Ministry of Health reporting requirements and surveillance/reporting expectations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards including Accreditation Canadas IPAC standards applicable legislation (e.g. CSA standards HPPA OHSA) and long-term care guidance.
  • Understanding of clinical environments and congregate care settings  workflows and terminology (e.g. surgical surveillance EVS outbreak reporting).
  • Project coordination or quality improvement training knowledge would be an asset
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills including managing multiple priorities and coordinating complex schedules.


Additional Information :

Hours: Mon-Fri 7.5 hour day shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $32.70 to $40.92 per hour
