CBC/Radio-Canada is currently seeking a Resource Specialist to work in the newsroom on planning the human and technical resources required for all our radio television and web productions.
This posting is for backfill purposes for occasional work (on call).
You will be responsible to plan organize and provide staff schedules facilities and equipment needed for content production in keeping with program constraints and requirements. You will also oversee schedule coordination and team assignment aiming for efficient and cost-effective use of human/physical resources.
More specifically you will plan for select organize acquire or provide staff facilities and materials needed to produce programs or program segments. Planning responsibilities include pre-production production and post-production following through to format and telecast requirements. General direction is provided but there is latitude for and an expectation of independent judgment and initiative. You will work on multiple projects at once with constant interruption and you must meet critical deadlines within a live and recorded TV/radio/web segment. Tact and diplomacy are essential as decisions must satisfy the needs of several stakeholders with varying priorities.
Key tasks:
With senior managers producers unit managers and technical directors contribute to long- and short-term planning for productions by attending meetings or receiving specific requests.
Provide advice on cost saving and other possible advantages to clients.
Resolve conflicting resource requests.
Identify and obtain the appropriate staff facilities materials and services for any given production. In so doing ensure that resources are available when required.
Provide an overview of all production activities and recommend corrective action to accommodate timeline changes or the needs of new and additional productions.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all collective agreements and corporate policies.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
College graduate from a broadcasting program or equivalent TV broadcasting experience
Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience demonstrating a solid understanding of the television/radio/web production processes is an asset
Knowledge of ScheduAll and iNews software are an asset
Mastery of the functionalities of the Google suite
Strong leadership skills; able to work without supervision; highly tactful well organized; very motivated self-starter
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to come up with creative solutions and assist in developing innovative procedures to ensure collaborative and responsive service
Able to work alone as part of a team under pressure and with tight deadlines
Able to efficiently collaborate and develop synergy with various partners and clients with a view to providing service adapted to production needs and expectations while also aiming for cost savings and efficient use of human and material resources
Able to manage multiple projects and priorities at once while reacting and responding to the needs of clients colleagues employees etc. in a timely and efficient manner
Able to create accurate database records and update existing records
Service-oriented outlook
Bilingual;able to communicate easily in spoken and written form
Available to work various shifts and on rotation both weekdays and weekends as required
Technical TV and radio knowledge are an asset
Good familiarity with programming on all (TV-radio-web)
