Job Description

Avacancy exists for an Emotional Support Special Education TeacherGradesK-2 atRinging Rocks Elementary School at Pottsgrove School District. Pottsgrove teachers develop curriculum and lesson plans and present those lessons to their students individually or in groups. Elementary special education certification required. The teaching position involves direct instruction co-teaching case management and collaboration. The successful candidate must possess clear communication skills effective instructional talents ability to create and monitor appropriate special education documents and establish relationships with students colleagues and families. They track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents about their progress. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning. This position will be part of the close-knit community of Pottsgrove staff who positively impact the lives of students each day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Special Education Teaching Certificate
  • Experience working with students withemotional support needs.
  • Active and valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate for the elementary level.
  • Prior teaching experience while not required may be preferred.
  • An understanding of the latest instructional strategies in special education evidence based instructional approaches and de-escalation techniques is preferred.
  • Valid clearances dated within one year.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work cooperatively with the principal subject supervisors and other staff members to develop an integrated educational program for children.
  • Assess the attitudes skills and abilities of children for effective teaching and learning each marking period as well as on an annual basis.
  • Provide meaningful appropriate learning experiences for assigned groups of children including differentiated instruction to meet individual needs of children.
  • Properly refer to theMTSSprocess those children experiencing academic and emotional/behavioral needs.
  • Effectively implement IEPs of identified children using the resources that are provided.
  • Serve as case manager to all students assigned and receiving IDEA/IEP services.
  • Stay up to date on IDEA mandated timelines for student paperwork.
  • Maintain lesson plansas directed by the principal and submitlessonsfor review upon request. Have daily lesson plans readily available for the use of a substitute in the event of absence.
  • Appropriately integrate technology into the teaching learning process including artificial intelligence in alignment with board policy.
  • Evaluate and re-evaluate childrens progress as a basis for planning and reporting to parents.
  • Complete and record students progress and attendance on appropriate records or documents.
  • Modify general education curriculum to meet the needs and strengths of students.
  • Teach in small and large groups and model evidence-based interventions
  • Develop and monitor positive behavior intervention plans and provide assistance during behaviorescalations using de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate withguardians teachers administrators and other professionals
  • Train teachers and paraprofessionals on behavior management curriculum and instructional deliver and support their completion of the credentials of competency where appropriate.
  • Create and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education.
  • Participate in staff development training that focuses on working with students receiving special education services.
  • Support with the instruction and development of students adaptive functional and self help skill areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building principal and Special Education Supervisor.
  • Participation in team meetings including PLCs and MTSS teamings.
  • Develop schedules for the students assigned and provide oversight to the assistants supporting the instruction of students.
  • Stay abreast of scientifically researched evidence based practices in the field of special education.


LOCATION: Ringing Rocks Elementary

SALARY:
Placement on the PGEA Salary Schedule based on experience and education. This is a contract position.
