Facilities Maintenance
SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide Maloit Park residents and visitors with a safe attractive comfortable and clean park.
SUPERVISED BY: Facilities Manager or Assigned Designee
ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
- Oversight is expected to ensure the facilities are used in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor and maintain Park facilities for security safety and cleanliness.
- Routinely manage and stock dog waste bag stations.
- Enforce Park regulations per the employee housing policy lease agreements and community users.
- Establish and maintain effective two-way communication with District staff and those persons utilizing the Park facilities.
- Immediately inform the Grounds Supervisor of any known situation that may be hazardous to the Park residents students and staff of the VSSA and/or the public.
- Operate commercial riding and push mowers gators snow removal equipment chain saws weed eaters and various hand tools to maintain lawns flower beds trees and shrubs of district grounds.
- Perform daily cleanup of all tools and equipment used in performance of duties and keep in good operating condition.
- Apply fertilizers soil amendments and chemicals as needed using appropriate safety equipment and procedures.
- Maintain tools and district vehicles in good operating order. Perform yearly preventative maintenance on all grounds machinery. Inform appropriate personnel of any needed repairs to equipment. (Experience in small engine repair is preferred.)
- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment and provide an annual report of those items to the Maintenance Department.
- Possess basic irrigation knowledge. Assist in yearly start up and shut down of district irrigation. Including assisting with summer irrigation repairs and clock setting when necessary.
- Plow and remove snow for the residents and community users as needed on all roads entering and within the Maloit Park area.
- Maintain a working knowledge of local and state laws pertaining to areas of responsibility.
- Wear appropriate clothing to standards set by the Director of Facilities.
- Work in accordance with safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- A minimum of 6 months experience with maintenance of building and grounds.
