Job Description:

KEY Accountabilities:

  • Support The Salvation Army mission through various music & art ministry
  • Work in conjunction with the officer to plan worship services and choose music in keeping with the theme.
  • Give leadership to the training and development and coaching of musicians of all ages.
  • Give leadership and coordinate the worship teams by arranging for musicians for leading worship services
  • Give leadership and coordinate the training and development of the technical team (sound mixing video recording visual projection software etc)
  • Lead worship with the ability to accompany by guitar or piano.
  • Develop worship teams for the leading of worship services (involving children and youth were skills and abilities allow.
  • Supervisor of volunteer musicians

position: Part time

  • 6-8 hours per week

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Routine Information. Conducts Involved Interactions.

Governance Boards and Councils: Negotiable

  • Internal: MU leaders musicians tech team.
  • External: General public donors

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Reports directly to the MU leader and works in conjunction with the Spiritual Life Team Lead on the Mission Board.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

  • Material: sound system musical instruments visual equipment cameras computers
  • Financial: Uses or maintains organizational assets in accordance with established guidelines. Provides input into the worship budget for proposed upgrades and purchases.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is usually performed in-doors may be performed outdoors in a warm period of time.
  • Flexible hours of work may be required: evenings weekends.
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing may be required during preforming and rehearsals.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (musical instruments and other related items)

education and experience Qualifications:

Education Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of Music degree
  • Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Up to one year of related experience

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Develop an understanding of the Mission of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Participate as an active and responsible team member.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Must comply with all Salvation Army policies and procedures and associated legislation.
  • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a level of competency and understanding Sections 25 and 26 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Good interpersonal skills integrity and adaptability.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Passion for music is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive productive and supportive relationships with the community church members volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Valid drivers license own vehicle and insurance; a current drivers abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion may be required.
  • Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through local police detachment
  • Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
  • Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $21.62 to $27.02 with a maximum of $32.43.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
