Job Description

ALL CANDIDATES MUST CURRENTLY BE PERMANENT IN THE TITLE PROGRAM SPECIALIST

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the Citys evolving criminal justice system participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees visitors volunteers and people in our custody. Importantly safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.

The Division of Financial Operations and Budget Administration seeks a candidate with grants revenue and reporting experience. The selected candidate will report to the expense budget director and will have a latitude to exercise independent judgment and initiative. The selected candidates overall responsibilities will include:
- Overall monitoring and reporting of the Departments Grants and revenue budget expenditures
- Billing and Collecting revenue reimbursements from Federal and State sources
- Generate reports for grant revenue and OTPS budget and expenditures

The candidates tasks include but are not limited to:
- Review Federal and State grants to determine eligibility
- Allocate allowable expenditures for grant reimbursements per Federal and State regulations
- Develop new and innovative reports to summarize the agencys expense activities for grants
revenue and OTPS
- Prepare monthly financial reimbursement requests to Federal and State sources
- Work with Mayors office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Comptrollers Office
prepare audits and adjust revenue plans
- Prepare and process journal entries for grant billings and reimbursements
- Cross-train team members on grant activities if necessary
- Ad hoc assignments per division needs

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in public or business administration sociology criminology mathematics statistics or related fields; or

2. An associate degree from an accredited college in public or business administration sociology criminology mathematics statistics or a closely related field and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in public or business administration community relations social work mathematical or statistical research; or

3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of Full-time satisfactory experience as described in 2 above; or

4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of experience on the basis of 30 semester credits for one year of experience. However all candidates must have a four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

For Assignment Level II and III in addition to meeting the qualification requirements above one additional year of the experience described in 2 above is required for Assignment Level II and two additional years of experience for Assignment Level III

For Assignment Level II and III in addition to meeting the qualification requirements above one additional year of the experience described in 2 above is required for Assignment Level II and two additional years of experience for Assignment Level III.
