Data Analyst Power BI & Data Engineering
Hybrid opportunity in Toronto for a skilled data expert with strong Power BI Python SQL and Spark experience. This role supports executive-level reporting and data solutions in the insurance industry. Split between data engineering and BI development it offers high-impact work using modern technologies.

Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities:
Support data engineering initiatives using Python SQL and Spark to build and maintain robust data pipelines and ensure efficient data processing.
Develop optimize and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reports for business intelligence and executive-level insights.
Build complex data models to enhance report performance and usability.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for extracting and manipulating data from various sources.
Lead and manage BI-related projects including planning execution delivery and backlog management with stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
Apply best practices in ETL processes and ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout reporting solutions.
Provide recommendations for improvements and proactively address data or reporting issues.
What you will need to succeed:
Bachelors degree required preferably in computer science computer engineering or a related technical field.
5 years of experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI.
5 years of experience using Power Query/M for data transformation.
Advanced knowledge of DAX for calculations aggregations and measures.
5 years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
2 years of experience in data modeling and performance optimization.
Proficiency in Python including variables loops conditionals error handling and common libraries.
Experience with Spark for data engineering and processing tasks.
Understanding of ETL processes and data integration best practices.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and environments.
Experience managing BI projects maintaining project backlogs and coordinating with stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and business audiences.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
High attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy.
Adaptability to learn and apply new tools and methodologies.
Proactive mindset with a willingness to suggest improvements and share expertise.
Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or relevant Power BI certification (nice to have).
Experience with Power Automate (nice to have).
