Job Description

About the Company:

A leading U.S.-based manufacturer in the aerospace and defense sectors.

Position Summary:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and leading the accounting team to ensure compliance accuracy and strategic alignment across the organization. This role plays a critical part in shaping fiscal policy ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and driving data-driven decision-making in partnership with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight & Reporting
  • Lead the monthly quarterly and annual financial close processes with accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for corporate and government stakeholders
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP FAR and other regulatory standards
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to support organizational growth
  • Leadership & Talent Development
  • Supervise mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team
  • Manage departmental staffing performance evaluations and succession planning
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
  • Cost Accounting & Analysis
  • Analyze cost variances including PPV labor productivity and overhead absorption
  • Maintain and update standard costs for materials labor and overhead
  • Evaluate inventory valuation and reserve requirements
  • Conduct cost modeling and scenario planning for strategic initiatives
  • Business Partnership & Strategic Planning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations and engineering to drive efficiency
  • Serve as a key advisor on unit performance budgeting and investment planning
  • Support capital expenditure plans and manage the Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) process
  • Optimize working capital inventory levels and liquidity planning
  • Deliver rolling cash forecasts and provide actionable insights to leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting or finance including at least 2 years in cost accounting
  • Proven experience in manufacturing; experience in the defense industry is highly desirable
  • At least 10 years in a leadership or supervisory role with strong team management skills
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
