Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and leading the accounting team to ensure compliance accuracy and strategic alignment across the organization. This role plays a critical part in shaping fiscal policy ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and driving data-driven decision-making in partnership with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Lead the monthly quarterly and annual financial close processes with accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting for corporate and government stakeholders
- Maintain compliance with GAAP FAR and other regulatory standards
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to support organizational growth
- Leadership & Talent Development
- Supervise mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Manage departmental staffing performance evaluations and succession planning
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Analyze cost variances including PPV labor productivity and overhead absorption
- Maintain and update standard costs for materials labor and overhead
- Evaluate inventory valuation and reserve requirements
- Conduct cost modeling and scenario planning for strategic initiatives
- Business Partnership & Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations and engineering to drive efficiency
- Serve as a key advisor on unit performance budgeting and investment planning
- Support capital expenditure plans and manage the Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) process
- Optimize working capital inventory levels and liquidity planning
- Deliver rolling cash forecasts and provide actionable insights to leadership
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting or finance including at least 2 years in cost accounting
- Proven experience in manufacturing; experience in the defense industry is highly desirable
- At least 10 years in a leadership or supervisory role with strong team management skills
- Proficiency with ERP systems
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
