Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of our retail company. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting maintaining compliance with accounting standards and optimizing financial performance across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills knowledge of finance and the ability to implement efficient financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyze financial statements budgets and forecasts for operations.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end financial closings.
- Provide insights into financial trends and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Accounting & Compliance
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP and operating agreements.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations audits and financial reporting requirements.
- Manage accounts payable receivable and general ledger activities.
- Cash Flow & Expense Management
- Monitor cash flow and implement strategies for cost control and financial efficiency.
- Develop strategies to optimize profitability across mutliple locations.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure adherence to financial policies.
- Retail Finance & Support
- Assist managment in financial planning budgeting and profitability analysis.
- Ensure consistency in financial processes across all coffee shop locations.
- Provide financial training and support to owners as needed.
- Technology & Process Improvement
- Implement and optimize financial software systems for reporting and analysis.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in financial operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (CPA preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance preferably within the retail or restaurant industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks NetSuite or other accounting software; strong Excel skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess financial data identify trends and provide actionable insights.
- Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills to work effectively with managers and executive teams.
- Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail with a proactive approach to financial problem-solving.
