About the Lab
The Velotta Lab at the University of Denver () is accepting applications for a full-time benefited Laboratory Research Technician in mammalian evolutionary physiology and genomics. This position will support projects investigating the physiological and genomic mechanisms of adaptation to high-altitude in deer mice (Peromyscus spp.). The position requires a BS in biology or related field a demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
Position Summary
The Velotta Lab at the University of Denver is seeking a full-time benefited Lab Research Technician in mammalian evolutionary physiology and genomics. This position requires a BS in biology or related field. Candidates with experience in basic molecular biology whole-animal physiology and rearing laboratory rodents are preferred qualifications. The ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the lab is critical to the success of this position. The position is for one year with the possibility of renewal and has an immediate start date.
Essential Functions
In addition to following the University of Denver policies and procedures principal responsibilities include but are not limited to: rodent care laboratory experiments involving rodents genomic library preparation whole-animal physiology animal dissection cell culture data entry and management maintaining laboratory supplies/equipment and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations. The candidate will be expected to participate fully in the lab environment including attending lab meetings and presenting data. This position will also contribute to training and mentoring undergraduate students.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 6.
Hourly Range
The hourly range for this position is$20.63-$23.00.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
