Thisposition is responsible for managing the Districts social media communicationspreparing news releases and other media or District-related correspondence andcoordinating District events working with the director to support thedevelopment of regular communications through which all stakeholders are keptapprised of District and school goals accomplishments and initiatives.

MinimumQualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communicationsmarketing media journalism preferred or at least three (3) years successfulexperience in a related field in a school district or educational institutionpreferred
  • Experience and knowledge of managingcomplex websites and social media
  • Experience in word-processingdatabase spreadsheet and presentation software
  • Experience and/or training with cultural ethnic and language diversitypreferred
  • Washington State drivers license orevidence of mobility
  • Successful Washington State Patrol andFederal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
  • Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57or later)
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility incompliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
  • Completion of all district-requiredtraining within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date

EssentialJob Functions:

  • Assist in thedevelopment of District-wide communications strategies
  • Carry outassigned communication plans for projects programs and activities
  • Write and editstaff parent and community articles
  • Post regularlyand monitor social media on the Districts multiple official social mediaaccounts
  • Establish andmaintains positive relationships with influencers on social media
  • Assist inproviding media support at District and school events
  • Assist in theplanning implementation and coordination of District community meetings andevents
  • Ensurecompliance and privacy laws when involving students in media coverage
  • Assist inresponding to information requests from parents the community and the media
  • Providetraining and support to staff using District-supplied communications tools aswell as training for staff around social media
  • Management andsupport of the Districts content management systems including technicaloversight
  • Providetechnical support training and trouble-shooting in the use of the communicationsplatforms (social media website and other communications tools) with users
  • Design writeand edit brochures newsletters and other district publications
  • Coordinate thedistribution of district publications
  • Manage thedistricts volunteer program
  • Respond togeneral information requests about the District and its educational programsand services
  • Coordinate theproduction of video or audio programs and other communication resources for useby the District
  • Maintain acurrent file of activity photographs and samples of student performance in theDistrict
  • Provideassistance to the director the Superintendent school board members or othersas directed in preparing speeches or other materials for public presentations
  • Assist in theorganization and presentation for staff workshops in effective communicationswith the community media and other groups
  • Establish andmaintain a cooperative working relationship with representatives of the media
  • Prepare informational materials fordistrict levy and bond elections
  • Maintainconsistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
  • Professionally interact with students staff and public
  • Comply with all district policies and procedures
  • Comply with the Code of Professional Conduct
  • Perform otherrelated duties as assigned
