You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailUnder general direction of the Vice Provost manages the planning and execution of journalistic storytelling content and related marketing activities for the universitys Future Planning across multiple platforms and a wide variety of audiences. Responsible for the oversight of all related graphic and video design in conjunction with Strategic Communications to ensure Future Planning efforts are on brand with campus standards. Acts as the as the primary liaison and provides leadership and guidance to campus constituents as well as regional community partners regarding Future Planning content.
Demonstrated ability to manage communications for a large complex campus-wide university initiative including the ability to supervise the work of designers videographers and others on the theme design and content of electronic and web-based publications to maximize impact. Significant experience in writing editing and proofreading copy to produce a wide variety of communications targeted for internal and external audiences. Thorough knowledge and understanding of concepts principles and practices of public relations including mechanics of content creation and AP style writing and editing. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate orally and in writing at a level appropriate for the position. Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external constituents to facilitate the delivery of relevant timely and positive information to the campus community and the public about Future Planning. Demonstrated ability to utilize sound judgment and proactive problem-solving techniques plus the ability to determine when issues need to be escalated to the AVP. Ability to stay abreast of current social media and communications trends and updated on available technology.
Ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals at all levels throughout the campus as well as off-campus partners and the public. Ability to treat others with dignity and respect empathy fairness and professionalism consistent with the university mission values and strategic vision. Demonstrated knowledge of word processing desktop publishing and web design software packages. Demonstrated ability to identify and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.
Equivalent to a bachelors degree in a related field (Marketing Communications or Journalism preferred) and four years of related professional or technical experience required.
Experience writing for a higher education or other large institution preferred.
Working knowledge of a content management system such as Drupal and experience managing video and graphic design projects preferred.
Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4842 - $7083 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4842 - $8759 per month.
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health vision dental) tuition fee waiver generous vacation and sick leave and 14 paid holidays each year.
1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.
This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
