Description

Rate: $16.50 hourly Not to exceed 28 hours weekly


General Purpose of Position

Performs all duties required for the position of Theatre Assistant Technical Director reporting and working under the supervision of the theater Technical Director and provides assistance to the Citys fine arts community and other related organizations.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

Administers coordinates and supervises the Citys rental theater facility

  • Carries out signed contract schedules and stipulations with clients

Serves as production manager/designer for community arts groups and Citys in-house theater company

Supervises theatre and scene shop

  • Ensures that all theater equipment is in proper working condition
  • Supervises movement of heavy equipment and other materials
  • Works with rigging counter weighting and other equipment while protecting the safety of all participants
  • Oversees and assists with construction in the scene shop
  • Reads all blueprints and specifications for scenery generates CAD files as needed

Oversees all technical aspects of the theater before during and after performances

  • Adjusts and operates lighting and sound system
  • Creates and performs special effects work including foggers dry ice machine flash pots and other equipment
  • Functions as House Manager for rental performances and assists in the operation of the box office as needed
  • Installs and repairs any and all theatre equipment as needed

Performs various administrative duties

  • Maintains departmental records and prepares reports
  • Collects information through the box office
  • Acquires necessary supplies for hospitality and performer needs as needed

Supervises various departmental and City personnel and outside employees

  • Oversees set up scheduling and operations for Valley of Flowers outdoor festival as needed
  • Supervises other departmental help in the set up and tear down of event productions as needed
  • Performs other duties as directed


Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School or equivalent
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Some college is preferred

Special Requirements

  • Valid Drivers license or ability to obtain one.
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic computer software ability to operate a cash register.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional public relations skills and have effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Tools and Equipment Used Lighting control console sound control console electronic equipment (speakers theatre lights dimmers cabling) personal computer in a network system calculator copy and fax machines telephone charge card machine a mobile or portable radio drill driver and various hand tools (screwdriver ratchet hammer etc..).

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk sit climb and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hand or finger to handle feel or operate objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include closed vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces. These areas are accessible via ladder only.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
  • The work environment is subjected to various levels of lighting including low blue lighting and bright stage lighting
  • The employee may have to walk over cabling and platforming and various levels of stairs.
