Since 2001 Centacare a Social Services Agency of the Catholic Diocese of Armidale has been a vital part of the local community. We provide a wide range of social welfare services to support individuals families and the broader community. Your Role as a Community Engagement & Development Officer
In this hands-on community-facing role you will:
Connect with individuals and local groups to understand their needs strengths and goals
Design and deliver inclusive community initiatives that build connection participation and wellbeing
Develop genuine partnerships with parishes service providers schools First Nations communities and other local stakeholders
Support the voices of those who may be marginalised or overlooked
Ensure all engagement activities reflect Catholic Social Teachingrespecting the dignity of every person and working for the common good
Celebrate community wins share stories and help shape future direction through local insight
Youre someone who thrives on relationships sees potential in every person and enjoys turning ideas into action. Youll bring:
A qualification in Community Development Youth Work Social Work or related discipline.
Experience in community engagement youth developmentgroup facilitation or program coordination particularly in a health mental health or not-for-profit setting.
A natural ability to build trust and communicate with people from all walks of life
A passion for social justice inclusion and faith-based mission
Understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by young people aged 12-25 including those from diverse or marginalised backgrounds.
Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of trauma-informed practice
Motivation initiative and a team mindset
