SUMMARY
The Chief Engineer is directly responsible for supervising the engineering and grounds teams to maintain the condition of the properties at optimal levels. This includes executing ongoing and preventative maintenance programs monitoring expenses inventorying parts and supplies and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club Inc. guidelines. Promotes and follows LJBTC Inc.s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.

OUTCOME
The overall maintenance of the guest rooms and the facilities influence guest and co-employee impression of the total organization. Clean well maintained guest rooms facilities and equipment will contribute to guest comfort and satisfaction and achieve room occupancy and revenue goals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Engineering/Grounds Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from Twoyear College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English representing appropriate business etiquette in written form (grammar punctuation syntax etc). Ability to speak effectively in English with customers managers vendors or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid California drivers license.

INTERACTION
Employees in the position of engineering/grounds interact frequently with all the departments tenants and guests. Employees must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with the many departments along with designated guests or vendors.
SCHEDULING
This company operates seven days a week 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated unless you were hired for a specific shift as much as possible to be fair to everyone. Be aware that at times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
