SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Perform clerical duties under the supervision of the principal. Assists the head secretary and guidance secretary in all phases of the school office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform general clerical responsibilities including but not limited to typing correspondence bulletins forms and reports; filing; sorting and distributing mail/correspondence; proofing editing and composing general correspondence; screening and responding to telephone calls and inquiries and/or directing calls to the appropriate staff; maintaining office and student records/files; and processing district forms.
  • Operate office equipment and machinery such as personal computer or Macintosh typewriter calculator and copy machines.
  • Assists head secretary and guidance secretary as needed.
  • Performs computer data input as necessary.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent and some formal clerical training.
  • Three (3) years of clerical experience.
  • Experience using computers for data entry and word processing.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to be regular and punctual in attendance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage many projects simultaneously and to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate easily in person and on the telephone in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive material.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computational and record keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of the use of English and conventions of spelling capitalization and punctuation. Familiarity with computer terminology and computer equipment.
  • Typing speed of 45 words per minute.

Certification and Licenses

  • Fingerprinting and background check.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years clerical experience.
  • Typing speed of 55-60 words per minute.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a regular office building.

JOB CLASS:Secretarial/Clerical WORK YEAR:Varies based on Location 210 days/year 223 days/year 260 days/year

*Internal candidates may be placed on a longevity step per corresponding collective bargaining agreement.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits. RETIREMENT AND DEFERRED COMPENSATION

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement System Plan. For eligibility information check on the link to theDepartment of Retirement Systems website.

Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pretax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
