Your role and responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to join Suffolk County Councils Safeguarding and Reviewing Officer Service as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) working countywide.

You will:

  • have management and oversight of the investigation process from beginning to end following an allegation against people in a position of trust who work with children both in the public and private sector
  • ensure that allegations and concerns are dealt with fairly and consistently in a way that reflects the rights of the individuals concerned but most importantly provides effective protection for the child
  • be an experienced and self-motivated manager working with another full-time colleague
  • chair complex meetings
  • provide advice and guidance to all agencies in the management of allegations
  • ensure the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership procedures are adhered to
  • clear systems to record all consultation with LADOs their conclusions and referrals to statutory bodies
  • provide regular monitoring of reporting of allegations and report regularly to the Head of Safeguarding and the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership.

You will need to

  • hold a relevant Social Work qualification and current Social Work England Registration.
  • recent experience of managing investigations of allegations concerning persons who work with children and young people.

This role is part of the Safeguarding and Reviewing Officer Service where youll play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing allegations involving individuals who work with children across the entire county. Youll be supported by a strong and experienced leadership team including three dedicated County Safeguarding Managers and an inspiring Head of Safeguarding all working together to drive excellence and make a real difference.
