Job Description
Technology Compliance Specialist FLSA Status: Non-union Non-Exempt 12-month positionUnder the supervision of the Chief Information and Innovation Officer you will be responsible for ensuring that our organization complies with relevant security standards regulations and best practices. You will play a key part in protecting sensitive data and supporting risk management initiatives by developing policies conducting audits and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enforce security protocols. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks regulatory requirements (such as ISO 27001 NIST SOC 2 FERPA or HIPAA) and a passion for maintaining a secure and compliant IT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Monitor and ensure compliance with internal security policies industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO 27001 NIST SOC 2 FERPA HIPAA GDPR).Conduct risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective implement and maintain security policies procedures and controls across the for and support external audits and assessments including managing documentation and coordinating with and report compliance metrics issues and remediation plans to the Chief Information and Innovations with HR Finance and other departments to align compliance efforts across the up-to-date knowledge of emerging regulations threats and security best and train staff on security awareness and compliance and respond to security incidents ensuring proper documentation and in vendor risk management including third-party assessments and contract & COMPLIANCE SKILLS:Knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001 NIST SOC 2 PCI-DSS HIPAA FERPA or GDPRUnderstanding of risk assessment methodologies and control implementationFamiliarity with audit processes and compliance reportingExperience with security tools such as vulnerability scannersAbility to interpret legal and regulatory documents and translate them into technical or operational controlsANALYTICAL & PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS:Strong analytical thinking to assess security risks and compliance gapsAttention to detail in evaluating and documenting compliance effortsProblem-solving mindset for identifying practical security solutionsCOMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION SKILLS:Clear written and verbal communication especially for documentation and policy creationAbility to translate technical requirements into plain language for non-technical teamsExperience conducting training or awareness programsStrong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with multiple departmentsORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS:Time management and prioritization to handle audits reports and multiple initiativesProject management experience or skills to track and coordinate compliance effortsEMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:Demonstrated ability to build harmonious working relationships with school officials staff students and the general public Ability to understand and respond to oral and written instruction and follow a work schedule Record of dependabilityHighly self-motivated and self-directedLICENSE/CERTIFICATES: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid drivers licenseBachelors degree preferredCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full PSD compensation -round positionHours 8:00AM 4:00PMSalary: $75000 per yearTHIS JOB SPECIFICATION SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED TO IMPLY THAT THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE THE EXCLUSIVE STANDARDS OF THE POSITION.
