GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Assistant Alternative School Coordinator of the Therapeutic lntervention Program in collaboration with the Alternative School Coordinator and Special Education Administration will assume oversight for the ongoing development of a comprehensive educational program for students deemed eligible to receive special education services (grades pre k-12) in a public day school program. The Assistant Alternative School Coordinator will be expected to assist the Alternative School Coordinator in all aspects of the schools day-to-day operations as well as its policy procedures budget and curriculum/program design.
The Assistant Alternative School Coordinator shall assist the Alternative School Coordinator to effectively:
1. Assist in all aspects of planning development and implementation for the alternative program including curriculum alignment and program design.
2. Assist with the implementation of educational and clinical services specified in each students lndividual Educational Program (lEP).
3. Supervise and assist with the evaluation of staff.
4. Assist in serving as community liaison for the program.
5. Assist in building a functional productive and innovative learning approach to alternative education by using a ppropriate strategies across the curriculum.
6. Assist with addressing general staff and student issues.
7. Assist with the development documentation and monitoring of school policies and procedures related to academic performance criteria discipline record keeping and re-ntegration into less restrictive educational settings.
8. Assist with the hiring of program staff.
9. Assist with the establishment and supervision of appropriate reporting tracking and data management systems.
10. Assist with the creation of a viable model of annual program performance.
11. Assist with expanding and enhancing inter-agency collaborations.
12. Assist with the development of appropriate professional development activities for staff in compliance with the Department of Education regulations and district initiatives.
13. Maintain clear and effective communications.
14. Perform all such tasks as the Alternative School Coordinator may deem necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities listed above.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
2. A Masters degree from an accredited college or university.
3. Licensure valid for service as a teacher or related service provider in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
4. Licensure valid for service as Supervisor/Director or Principal/Assistant Principal in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
5. At least five years of successful teaching or related experience.
REPORTS TO: Alternative School Program Coordinator/Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services
SALARY: As per LSAA contract (salary classification equivalent to Assistant Early Childhood Coordinator and District Support Specialist)
EFFECTIVE DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: start of school year 2025-2026
