Systems Support Engineer

As a Systems Support Engineer you will be responsible to the Engineering Manager for the investigation of maintenance and safety related vehicle defects and subsequent engineering solutions to ensure contractual reliability targets are achieved and maintenance practices implemented / improved. You will also be responsible for those activities relating to design modifications and subsequent applications for customer / regulatory approval for changes.
Responsible for investigation of maintenance and safety defects for vehicles and Depot and ensuring compliance with customer and UK legislative requirements.
Responsible for implementing the maintenance plan at the depot level.
Assist production staff with more complex technical problems.
Liaise with systems engineering teams on specific technical issues.
Build relationship with key technical and service providers and OEMs.
Assist in the development of documented engineering procedures practices and policies.
Assist in the co-ordination of continuous improvement programmes to ensure contractual requirements are achieved and exceeded.
Assist in optimising the Companys maintenance regime and assisting in the development of best European / World Class maintenance practice in support of current and future contracts.
To liaise with Procurement / Maintenance Team members during the assessment and approval of new material suppliers to ensure that Maintenance H & S and environmental needs are adequately identified / addressed.
Work closely with the Reliability Analyst and Reliability Technicians to identify the root cause of defects within the shortest possible timescale
To confirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications by the use of engineering processes and techniques
To modify or manufacture traction and rolling stock components by material or processes
To modify or manufacture traction and rolling stock hardware and software components
Production of Depot Safety Case reports / documentation in liaison with Engineering Manager Duty Fleet Managers and QHSE Manager.
About you
HND or equivalent qualified engineer.
Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock
Membership of a recognised accredited engineering body
