JOB SUMMARY
The Director Retail Merchandising will be a key leader on the merchandising team for Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques Marriotts direct-to-consumer and wholesale retail business with products marketed under Marriotts hotel brands such as the Westin Heavenly Bed. This person will be responsible for translating insights into strategy to deliver a retail experience that builds brand recognition and loyalty for our hotels and generates growth in retail sales. The ideal candidate comes from an ecommerce background in the home luxury or gift industries and is ready for a new challenge in a growing business. We are looking for an ambitious merchandising leader who is adept at leveraging consumer insights has an eye for retail trends and the agility to lean into the strengths of Marriott to identify procure and drive successful product assortments. They will work closely with Marketing Merchandising Operations Brands global procurement teams and others to grow our retail business.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors degree
8 years experience in online retail merchandising buying and/or product development
Experience developing product assortments and launch plans to meet customer demands and market trends.
Experience leading retail strategies inclusive of defining KPIs forecasts and communicating results.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Graduate degree.
Experience at a high-growth ecommerce business or large retailer in the lifestyle space.
Experience leading categories such as home goods luxury products gifts.
Demonstrable creativity and resourcefulness to find solutions and meet goals.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a complex and ambiguous environment.
Experience in the hospitality market a plus.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Develops merchandising plans strategies and tactics to meet company goals.
Optimizes product assortment strategy to select plan and manage product assortments to meet customer demands and market trends.
Oversees pricing and inventory needs for collections.
Sources and manages relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
Partners with marketing and merchandising operation teams to launch collections.
Incorporates research and analysis on assortment recommendations.
Develops and communicates merchandising plans and goals to stakeholders.
Independently delivers strategic cross-functional projects to support the growth of Boutiques.
Analyzes and communicates merchandising performance.
Collaborates with brand teams to deliver on shared merchandising objectives.
The salary range for this position is $117600 to $157800 annually. In addition to the annual salary the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
