WHAT YOULL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Farm Operations Worker is a seasonal position working in Sparks Georgia from August to May. The Farm Operations Worker will drive and operate one or more farm machines such as tractors trucks and harvesters to perform specified farm activity. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of tasks using tractors.

• Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors plows seeders sprayers and harvesters.
• Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated and functioning efficiently.
• Assist with minor repairs and upkeep of machinery.
• Perform general field maintenance repair and maintain farm buildings and equipment.
• Manually remove weeds or operate machinery to keep fields clear.
• Assist with irrigation operation
• Drive truck to haul materials supplies or harvested crops to designated locations.
• Minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
• Ensure proper storage conditions for tools equipment and harvested crops.
• Clean and organize farm areas to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with a variety of general tasks as needed such as moving materials or lifting heavy items.
• Maintaining work area common facilities (break areas restrooms etc.) and any personal storage areas that are assigned in a clean and organized manner.
• Follow health and safety regulations to ensure safe working conditions.
• Handle chemicals and hazardous materials according to safety guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One to three years previous experience.
• Valid Georgia Driver License and clean driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• One- or two-years previous experience in farm environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Environmental exposure- seasonal outdoor temperatures (40 Fahrenheit or below) heat (99 Fahrenheit or above) wet and darkened conditions.
• Material exposure- machine truck vibrations and moving mechanical parts.
• Must be able to stand for an extended period of time.
• Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes airborne particles and vibrations.
• Ability to ascend and descend ramps steps ladders stairs using three-point contact.
• Ability to walk over uneven surfaces.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

1st Shift 8:00 AM to 5:00PM Overtime and Weekends may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
