This position is based at the Electronic Controls and Motor Systems (ECMS) site within Collins Aerospace. Our key business focus is to advance electrified aircraft with a focus on R&D electric motors and controllers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Project engineer/manager. The role is ideal for someone looking for a junior project manager role. For the right candidate the role offers great opportunities to progress. To be successful you will ideally come from a technology/product development background with aerospace/electrical engineering experience and have a solid understanding of technology development and deal well with ambiguity. You will have experience of project planning risk mitigation finance adherence and customer interaction. You will need to be confident in driving a multi-disciplined team and have the drive and initiative required to grasp the bigger picture.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
Project manage multi-disciplined teams by the implementation of effective standard programme management processes and be accountable for the achievement of assigned work packages or projects. Create maintain and effectively communicate project plans and resource profiles to cover the delivery of assigned work packages or projects Establishing and maintain effective monitoring and control of project to produce deliverables on time on budget and to customer requirements Identifying and manage project risk mitigation actions and contingency plans Working with Chief Engineer and programme manager to ensure timely delivery of milestones. Developing and maintaining pro-active risk management of milestones and technical performance in line with company processes. De-risking financially through risk avoidance and risk sharing within the supply chain Maintaining the customer interface and reporting on progress. Maintaining requirements management through interface control documents coordination memos & specifications. Monitoring and maintaining the approved business model including non-recurring costs unit recurring costs and resource utilisation Developing ongoing cost out plans through design changes and sourcing strategies in line with the goals of the business. Ensuring early involvement of suppliers and timely supplier selections meeting both the needs of the Project and Sourcing teams. Overseeing application of Production Readiness into the supply chain and managing the flow down of appropriate contract requirements and penalties to suppliers. Ensuring performance is monitored against requirements and effective corrective action taken where needed.
Essential requirements including qualifications skills knowledge competencies:
Project management / IPT lead experience in an engineering environment beneficial Must be experienced in managing customer facing projects. Strong commercial experience able to drive projects effectively for excellence against demanding targets in a complex multi-disciplined environment Strong influencing skills to ensure key deliverables are met and a passionate desire to excel against demanding customer expectations Experience of working in a matrix organisation. Demonstrated Problem Solving skills and works well with ambiguity Degree qualified or equivalent ideally in a technical discipline Shows excellent attention to detail whilst working at a fast pace.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work from the site 3-4 days per week.
