What youll be doing
In the role of Senior Quantitative Analyst Model Validation youll conduct model validations where youll independently review CIBCs analytical and statistical models including those used for:
- pricing (e.g. exotic equity FX interest rate commodity and credit derivatives)
- risk measurement (e.g. VaR counterparty credit risk and credit valuation adjustment) and
- automated trading applications (e.g. index arbitrage).

How youll succeed
- Problem Solving- Review the models mathematical underpinnings modeling rationale and assumptions as well as models inputs and outputs.
- Technical Expertise and Testing- Develop an independent numerical benchmark using C C or other suitable programming languages and tools and conduct numerical tests to assess the accuracy of the models implementation.
- Report- Write a model validation report that includes a description of model and methodology the testing approaches and results as well as model operational conditions and model risk assessment.
- Communication- Understand the governance and control on model risk management and be able to efficiently communicate the regulatory requirements to various stakeholders and senior management.
Who you are
- You have a Ph.D. degree in a scientific field (e.g. mathematics statistics or physics).
- You can demonstrate experience and knowledge of stochastic calculus (e.g. at the level of the book Stochastic Calculus for Finance II by Steven Shreve or the book Arbitrage Theory in Continuous Time by Tomas Bjork) and C programming. You have knowledge of financial derivative valuation theory and corresponding numerical valuation methods.
- You love to learn. Maintain up-to-date knowledge with regard to financial derivative model development and changing technology; this may involve reading books or articles outside of regularly scheduled work hours.
